Dr. Bharati Hiremath, the dedicated Coordinator for International Relations at Maharaja’s College, University of Mysore, recently brought her expertise to the global stage at the International Conference on BRICS Strategic Communication in Global Governance. Held in Moscow on October 31st, this important gathering was orchestrated by the UNESCO Chair and the Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences.
The conference’s primary focus was to examine how strategic communication can effectively propel BRICS’s goals forward and deepen the ties between its member states. Dr. Hiremath contributed significantly with her paper, ‘BRICS plus and sustainable growth of global south: challenges and way forward.’ Her presentation highlighted several key areas crucial for progress, including the importance of women’s participation in legislative processes, the recognition and promotion of traditional medicine and indigenous cultures, and the urgent need to boost digital and financial literacy across the global South.
Adding to her impactful contributions, Dr. Hiremath proposed an innovative ‘Sustainable Health Corridor’ designed to foster collaborative health initiatives among BRICS nations. During her time in Moscow, she also had the opportunity to meet with Vinay Kumar, India’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation. This engagement further solidified her role as a key representative.
Dr. Hiremath’s participation at this summit reinforces her continuous commitment to global dialogue, following her previous representation of India at the 16th BRICS Academic Forum, also held in Moscow. As a member of the BRICS Expert Council, her insights continue to shape important international discussions.
