VIZIANAGARAM
Union Minister for Civil Aviation, K. Rammohan Naidu, announced on Thursday that the Indian government is actively working to ensure the prompt return of eight fishermen. These individuals were recently apprehended by the Bangladesh Coast Guard after they unintentionally strayed into international waters during a fishing expedition.
The detained fishermen hail from the Pusapatirega and Bhogapuram mandals within Vizianagaram district. Upon being alerted to the situation by Vizianagaram district Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy and officials from the Fisheries Department, Minister Rammohan Naidu promptly reached out to Union Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar. He formally requested diplomatic intervention to facilitate the swift release of the fishermen.
Meanwhile, the anxious families of the detained fishermen have also appealed to MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, urging him to prioritize the safety and expedited return of their loved ones.
