The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday, September 26, 2025, that over 2,400 Indian citizens have been deported or repatriated from the United States since the beginning of the year.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal addressed the press, stating unequivocally that India stands firmly against illegal migration. He emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to promote and establish clear pathways for the legal movement of people.
Specifically, Jaiswal confirmed that 2,417 Indians have been sent back from the U.S. in the period since January. His remarks were made in response to a direct question about the recent deportation figures.
Reiterating India’s policy on the matter, he underscored: “We want to promote legal pathways for migration. At the same time, India stands against illegal migration.”
