External affairs minister S. Jaishankar recently welcomed the U.S. ambassador-designate to India, Sergio Gor, in New Delhi. Mr. Gor is currently on a six-day visit to the capital following his confirmation by the Senate.
During their meeting, Mr. Jaishankar shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Pleased to meet Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor of the U.S. today in New Delhi. Discussed the India-U.S. relationship and its global significance. Wish him the best for his new responsibility.”
Mr. Gor is accompanied on his visit, which spans from October 9 to October 14, by Michael J. Rigas, the Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources, according to information from the U.S. State Department.
This high-level engagement occurs at a crucial time as India and the United States are actively working to deepen their strategic and trade partnership. Both nations are exploring avenues to finalize a trade agreement and enhance cooperation in key sectors like technology and defense.
