A two-year-old murder mystery in Sri Sathya Sai district has finally seen a breakthrough, with police announcing the arrest of three individuals. The case revolves around the gruesome killing of 26-year-old T. Amarnath from Allugundu village, Nallacheruvu mandal, who vanished in June 2023.
Amarnath was initially reported missing. Days later, a partially decomposed body was discovered in the Cherlopalle checkdam. Although Amarnath’s parents identified the remains by his trousers, a definitive confirmation of identity required a DNA test, which later matched the profile with his parents.
The investigation, which had gone cold, was recently reignited under the directives of Superintendent of Police S. Suresh Kumar, who pushed for a fresh look into all pending missing and murder cases. This renewed effort ultimately led to significant progress in Amarnath’s case.
Police investigations revealed a shocking motive behind the murder. According to Kadiri Deputy Superintendent of Police J. Shivanarayana Swamy, Amarnath was allegedly killed by his friend, Shaik Dadapeer, from the same village, along with two other accomplices.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police further elaborated that Amarnath had recorded objectionable videos of Shaik Dadapeer’s wife at their home. He then used these videos to blackmail the woman, demanding sexual favors and threatening to make the content public if she refused to oblige.
Upon learning of this egregious act, Dadapeer, enraged by Amarnath’s blackmail, conspired with his friends Pathan Mohammed Yaseen from Kadiri town and Pathan Sadiq Basha from Nallacheruvu, to eliminate Amarnath.
On the night of June 10, 2023, the trio lured Amarnath to a secluded hillock near Balappagaripalle in Kadiri Rural mandal. There, they brutally attacked him with stones, leading to his death. To conceal their crime, the accused tied Amarnath’s body to a boulder and disposed of it in the Cherlopalle checkdam.
With these revelations, the police swiftly apprehended the three accused. Authorities also seized an auto-rickshaw believed to have been used by the suspects during the commission of the crime, bringing a semblance of closure to this long-standing case.
