For generations, expectant mothers in Charla mandal, nestled within Telangana’s remote Bhadradri Kothagudem district, faced a daunting challenge: a nearly 60-kilometer trek to Bhadrachalam for vital maternity services. This arduous journey often posed risks and hardship, but a new chapter in local healthcare began this past Wednesday, October 15th. The Charla Community Health Centre (CHC) proudly announced its first-ever successful caesarean section operation, a monumental achievement that dramatically enhances healthcare accessibility in this underserved area.
This remarkable development is the fruit of dedicated efforts by local leaders, including District Collector Jitesh V. Patil and District Coordinator of Hospital Services (DCHS) Ravi Babu. Their vision aimed to bolster government healthcare facilities under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP). As a testament to this commitment, the District Collector authorized additional incentives and ensured the appointment of crucial specialist doctors at Charla CHC, including a skilled obstetrician, a compassionate pediatrician, and an expert anesthesiologist.
The groundbreaking procedure was performed on Thanniru Rajeshwari, a 20-year-old resident of Kothur village, Charla mandal, who experienced complications during labor. Thanks to the newly augmented medical team, she safely delivered a healthy baby boy weighing two kilograms. The successful surgery was a collaborative triumph, led by obstetrician Dr. Sravani, with invaluable assistance from pediatrician Dr. Ravi Kumar, anesthesiologist Dr. Shiva Rama Krishna, nursing officer Jhansi, and technician Srikanth.
Expressing immense gratitude, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sai Vardhan lauded the district administration’s unwavering support. He emphasized the profound impact of this upgrade, stating, “Pregnant women in the Agency area can now access safe delivery facilities right within their own community.” This milestone not only offers relief but also instills confidence and hope, ensuring that life-saving care is now truly within reach for the residents of Charla.
