In a deeply disturbing turn of events in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni district, BJP leader Nilesh Rajak was tragically shot and killed by two assailants near the Kymore Rest House on Monday morning. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, and the situation took an even more somber turn when the father of one of the identified suspects reportedly died by suicide shortly after the attack.
Superintendent of Police Abhinav Vishwakarma confirmed the details, stating that Nilesh Rajak was shot dead by two individuals. “The suspects have been identified, and efforts to apprehend them are underway. Swift action will be taken against them,” Vishwakarma assured.
Adding to the tragedy, SP Vishwakarma revealed that the father of one of the accused individuals took his own life by hanging. “The father of one of the accused has committed suicide by hanging himself, and his body is currently undergoing legal procedures,” he added.
The post-mortem examination of the victim, Nilesh Rajak, is currently being conducted. Authorities are awaiting the results to ascertain the exact number of bullets that caused his death.
Police have heightened security and law and order presence in the Kymore area to maintain peace and order following the incident. SP Vishwakarma mentioned that Nilesh Rajak was reportedly involved in contractual work with ACC and was associated with various social groups. The police are working with the victim’s family to proceed with the necessary legal actions, including the post-mortem.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Veerendra stated that the shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. in front of the ACC Kymore guest house. He confirmed that while the culprits’ faces were covered during the attack, efforts are being made to identify them using CCTV footage, which is currently under examination.
Investigations are ongoing, with senior police officials actively overseeing the case to ensure justice is served.
