The roads of Andhra Pradesh witnessed a series of tragic accidents recently, resulting in the loss of four lives and leaving two injured. These incidents, occurring in Prakasam and Bapatla districts, highlight a grave concern: the danger posed by stray animals on public roads.
In a particularly heartbreaking event in Prakasam district, a 36-year-old software engineer, M. Sudheer Reddy, tragically lost his life. Sudheer, who worked in Australia and was visiting his hometown of Kanigiri for his grandfather’s annual rituals, was riding his motorcycle near Kothur village when a stray dog unexpectedly darted onto the road. In an attempt to avoid hitting the animal, he swerved, fell off his bike, and succumbed to his injuries.
A separate and equally devastating accident unfolded in Bapatla district, near Kolalapudi village in Marturu mandal. Here, a family of five was traveling by car when their vehicle collided with a road divider. Three individuals – Hemanth (26), Lakshmaiah (70), and Subbayamma (63) – died instantly. Two others in the car sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care. Authorities report that the driver lost control of the car while trying to avoid a dog that had run onto the main road. Police have launched an investigation into both incidents.
