Uttar Pradesh has been struck by a series of devastating road accidents, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to over a dozen others. These tragic incidents occurred across multiple districts, including Bareilly, Amethi, and Etah, highlighting serious concerns about road safety in the region.
In Bareilly, a horrific head-on collision between a van and a bus on the Bareilly-Bisalpur Road claimed the lives of three individuals – driver Rakesh (35), Gaurav (19), and Jitendra (20) – and left ten passengers injured. The accident, which took place around 1:30 AM on Saturday near Barheypura village, involved passengers who were reportedly returning home for Diwali celebrations. Emergency services worked through the night, using cutting equipment to rescue passengers trapped in the severely damaged van. Preliminary findings suggest that speeding and an attempt to overtake were the contributing factors. Four of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
Further tragic news emerged from Amethi, where a speeding truck collided with a motorcycle on the Lucknow-Varanasi Highway in the Jagdishpur area on Saturday morning. The collision resulted in the on-the-spot deaths of two young men, Deepak Kumar (20) and Devendra Kumar (22). Authorities have seized the truck involved, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
In Etah, two separate motorcycle accidents on Friday night led to two fatalities and serious injuries for four others. The first incident, a head-on collision between two speeding motorcycles near Bahgo village in Jaithra area, killed 70-year-old Shyamveer and injured his grandson Himanshu and two other individuals. In a second accident in Etah, 16-year-old Satyam lost his life when his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle while he was reportedly on his way to a petrol pump late at night. Police have registered cases for both Etah incidents and are conducting post-mortem examinations.
