Govindarajanagar police have apprehended a 24-year-old private firm employee following the tragic death of his senior colleague during a late-night shift on Friday. The accused, identified as Somala Vamshi, voluntarily surrendered to the police, confessing to the heinous act.
The victim, 41-year-old Bhimesh Babu from Vijayawada, worked alongside Vamshi at Data Digital Bank in MC Layout, a company specializing in data storage, particularly for film shoots. It was common for both employees to work overnight at the office.
In the early hours, around 1:30 a.m., a seemingly minor argument erupted between Vamshi and Babu over switching off the lights. The dispute quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. Driven by a fit of rage, Vamshi allegedly struck Babu on the head with a dumbbell, causing instantaneous death.
Realizing the gravity of his actions, Vamshi proceeded to the Govindarajanagar Police Station and confessed. A formal case has been filed, and an investigation is currently underway.
