A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday as a 22-year-old post-graduate student, identified as Swarna, succumbed at a hospital after consuming rat poison within the Maharani College hostel premises.
Swarna, who was pursuing her MSc at Maharani College, resided in the college hostel.
Reports indicate that Swarna had been grappling with emotional distress following the death of her father three months prior. This grief reportedly affected her academic performance, and police also noted that she was troubled by a domestic dispute.
Authorities stated that after ingesting the poison last week, she boarded a bus to Chikkaballapura, seemingly intending to end her life there. Upon arrival, Swarna was found semi-conscious and rushed to a local hospital, where she later passed away.
The High Grounds Police have officially registered a case of unnatural death and are actively investigating to determine the precise circumstances and motivations behind this tragic event.
