A somber incident unfolded in Palnadu district on Sunday, where 40-year-old Sk. Madipadu Nagulu tragically passed away. His death is being attributed to a critical lack of medical attention at the Achampeta Primary Health Centre (PHC).
Local residents recount that Nagulu’s family rushed him to the PHC after he suffered an epileptic seizure. However, upon arrival, they were met with an alarming situation: no doctor was on duty. A nurse, identified as Seshamma, allegedly advised the family to transport Nagulu to a dispensary in Sattenapalli.
Sadly, Nagulu’s condition rapidly worsened while still at the PHC, and he succumbed to his illness. This devastating loss immediately sparked a protest from his grieving family members, who staged a demonstration directly outside the health center. They vehemently claimed that their loved one died due to the physician’s absence and the subsequent denial of timely treatment.
The situation escalated significantly as Nagulu’s wife, Jaan Bi, and their children, overcome with grief and despair, threatened self-immolation. Police swiftly intervened to de-escalate the volatile scene, managing to calm the distraught family. The bereaved relatives loudly demanded strict action against both the absent PHC doctor and the staff present. Authorities have since registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
