In a solemn announcement, actor and political leader Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), confirmed on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) that his upcoming public events will be temporarily postponed. This decision comes in the wake of the tragic stampede at his recent rally in Karur, which resulted in the loss of 41 lives.
Vijay had initiated a series of “meet the people” programs, held on Saturdays, and had already connected with residents in Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, and Karur. However, the event on September 27 in Karur turned into a catastrophe, claiming 41 lives and leaving over 60 individuals injured in a stampede.
The TVK conveyed its profound sorrow through a social media statement, acknowledging the Karur tragedy with deep anguish and regret over the loss of “41 of our brethren.” The party emphasized that, given the gravity of the situation, their leader’s planned public engagements for the next two weeks are being temporarily put on hold. Further details regarding the rescheduled programs will be communicated at a later date.
