A horrific accident on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway near Vikravandi has claimed the lives of three individuals from Chennai, leaving two others injured. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, October 2, 2025, involved a car that veered into the median and subsequently collided with a lorry.
The force of the impact was so severe that the car immediately caught fire, with flames rapidly consuming the entire vehicle within minutes.
According to police reports, five people were traveling in the car, en route from Kolathur in Chennai to Munnar, Kerala. As the vehicle approached Vikravandi, the driver tragically lost control, leading to the collision and immediate conflagration.
The deceased have been identified as Shamsuddin (25) from Thiruvellikeni, Rishi from Kolathur, and Mohan from Avadi, all of whom died at the scene. The two injured occupants were rushed to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The devastating accident brought traffic on the busy highway to a complete halt for over an hour, causing significant delays and disruption.
Authorities have since registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
