A deeply tragic incident has shaken the Bagalagunte area of Bengaluru, where a 28-year-old woman is believed to have taken the lives of her two young children before ending her own. Authorities have since registered a case against her husband, Ramesh, following a complaint from her family.
Police identified the deceased as Vijayalakshmi, who is suspected of having tragically killed her four-year-old daughter and one-year-old son.
The harrowing event reportedly unfolded on Thursday evening, around 7:30 p.m. At the time, Vijayalakshmi was alone with her children. Her husband, Ramesh, was away in his hometown, and his aunt, who resided with the family, had not yet returned from work.
The devastating scene was discovered when Ramesh’s aunt arrived home. Police were alerted around 9 p.m., and a preliminary post-mortem report indicated no signs of external foul play in the deaths.
Initial investigations indicate that the couple, originally from Maski in Raichur district, had been married for five years and lived in a rented house in Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, Bagalagunte. Ramesh was employed as an assistant manager at a clothing showroom in a West Bengaluru mall, while Vijayalakshmi was a homemaker.
Vijayalakshmi’s family has come forward with allegations that Ramesh had been coercing her into a divorce, reportedly due to his desire to marry another person. Although both families had recently intervened to reconcile the couple and sent them back to Bengaluru, the underlying tension seemingly persisted.
While no suicide note was found at the scene, the police have acted on the victim’s family’s complaint, charging Ramesh with harassment and abetment to suicide under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Concurrently, a murder charge has been registered against Vijayalakshmi concerning the deaths of her children.
