In a shocking incident in a Belagavi village, a dispute over a mere ₹2,000 loan tragically ended with one man being hacked to death.
The victim, 30-year-old Manjunath Goudar, was discovered lifeless on Sunday night near Giriyala village in Bailhongal taluk.
Police investigations revealed that 32-year-old Dayanand Gundlur, an acquaintance of Goudar, committed the heinous act using an axe after a heated argument.
Sources indicate that Gundlur had confronted Goudar for the repayment of a ₹2,000 loan, which he had extended a week prior.
When Goudar requested more time to settle the debt, the discussion quickly devolved into a violent confrontation, culminating in the fatal attack, according to authorities.
A murder case has since been formally registered at the Bailhongal Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
