A devastating incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Hyderabad’s Ramanthapur area, where a 50-year-old lineman, identified as Seviya Naik, was fatally electrocuted during routine repair work on electricity lines for the TGSPDCL power utility.
According to Uppal Police Inspector K. Bhaskar, eyewitnesses confirmed that Naik inadvertently came into contact with a live wire during his work, leading to the tragic accident.
The family of the deceased has expressed profound sorrow and outrage, vehemently holding the Electricity Department responsible for his death. They allege that negligence on the part of officials and inadequate safety measures directly contributed to Naik’s untimely demise. The Uppal Police have since registered a case and launched a thorough investigation into the matter.
This latest fatality brings to light a troubling pattern, following another major tragedy in Ramanthapur less than a month prior. On August 18, a Krishna Janmashtami procession ended in disaster when a 10-foot chariot, carried by devotees, made contact with an overhead live electric wire. That incident tragically resulted in five deaths and injuries to four others, emphasizing the urgent need for improved electrical safety standards in the region.
