The serenity of a convent in Kerala’s Kollam district was shattered by the tragic discovery of a nun found deceased. Police confirmed on Tuesday that the 33-year-old woman, originally from Tamil Nadu, was found hanging in her room at the religious institution on Monday evening.
Emergency services were immediately called, and she was swiftly transported to a local hospital, where she was regrettably pronounced dead. Investigators from the Kollam East police station reported the discovery of a suicide note within her room. The note, though brief, reportedly mentioned her struggles with “psychological issues.”
Authorities have since initiated a formal inquiry, registering the case as an unnatural death. The investigation is ongoing as police work to understand the full circumstances surrounding this somber incident. A local suicide prevention helpline (Disha – 1056, 0471-2552056) is also available for those in need of support.
