A devastating incident has deeply saddened a family in Mahabubnagar, Telangana, following the alleged fatal shooting of their 30-year-old son, Mohammed Nizamuddin, by police in the United States. Family members stated on Thursday, September 18, 2025, that the tragedy unfolded after a reported ‘scuffle’ with his roommate.
Mohammed Hasnuddin, Nizamuddin’s father, shared information he received from a friend of his late son, indicating the incident occurred on September 3. However, the exact sequence of events leading to the shooting remains shrouded in uncertainty.
Hasnuddin recounted that he was informed the dispute began over a minor issue. Despite this, he stressed the distressing lack of clear and comprehensive details surrounding his son’s death.
The family received the heartbreaking news on the morning of September 18, 2025. In their profound grief, they have issued an urgent appeal to India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, pleading for the government’s intervention to facilitate the return of Nizamuddin’s mortal remains to Mahabubnagar.
In an emotional letter addressed to Minister Jaishankar, Mr. Hasnuddin expressed his shock and desperation: “This morning, I learned that my son, Nizamuddin, was tragically shot dead by the Santa Clara Police, and his body is currently at a hospital in Santa Clara, California. I am desperate for answers and do not know the true reasons why the police resorted to such an extreme action.”
He specifically implored the Minister to instruct the Embassy of India in Washington D.C. and the Consulate General of India in San Francisco to provide immediate support in repatriating his son’s body to his hometown.
Amjed Ullah Khan, a spokesperson for Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT), publicly supported the family’s plea by sharing the letter with the media, urging the External Affairs Minister to intervene and offer crucial assistance during this incredibly difficult period.
Mr. Hasnuddin also mentioned that his son, Mohammed Nizamuddin, had successfully completed his Master’s degree in the U.S. and was working there as a software professional.
