A tragic incident has cast a shadow over the Periyar Tiger Reserve. On Tuesday, Anil Kumar, a dedicated 32-year-old forest watcher, was discovered deceased within the dense Ponnampalamedu forest area.
His remains were located along the initial stretch of the Ponnampalamedu path. Early findings from the investigation strongly suggest that his death was the result of a fatal tiger attack. Kumar, a resident of Gavi, had reportedly ventured into the forest on Sunday morning with the intention of collecting forest produce, telling his family he was heading towards Pampa. When he failed to return home after three days, a comprehensive search operation was initiated, which sadly culminated in the heartbreaking discovery of his body.
Anil Kumar, who belonged to a local tribal community, leaves behind his wife and three young children, deepening the sorrow of this unforeseen tragedy.
