A horrific accident on Wednesday morning in Andhra Pradesh’s SPSR Nellore district tragically claimed the lives of seven people. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on the highway near Peramana village in Sangam mandal, when a tipper truck, allegedly traveling on the wrong side of the road, crashed head-on into a car.
Upon receiving the distressing news from local residents, a rapid response team from Sangam police station arrived at the scene. They meticulously extricated the victims from the mangled car and transported their bodies to Atmakur Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
All seven deceased were identified as residents of Nellore city, en route to Kadapa when their journey was tragically cut short. The truck driver, abandoning his vehicle, fled the scene immediately after the collision. A widespread search operation has been launched by the police to apprehend the absconding driver.
The devastating incident sent shockwaves through the political community. Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, alongside Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Ponguru Narayana, and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, expressed their profound sorrow and shock over the fatal road accident.
In response to the recurring tragedies on this stretch, Minister Ramanarayana Reddy has urgently called upon the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Regional Officer to prioritize and implement measures for laying a four-lane road. He specifically requested that proposals for this crucial infrastructure upgrade be fast-tracked to the Central government to prevent future mishaps.
