Mysuru is in a state of profound shock following the discovery of a 10-year-old girl’s body near Doddakere Maidan early on Thursday morning. This heartbreaking incident has sent ripples of fear and sorrow throughout the city.
Alarmingly, this is not an isolated event; it marks the second murder reported in the very same area within the last 48 hours, raising serious concerns about public safety. Just two days prior, a 36-year-old man was also brutally killed near this location.
The young victim belonged to a nomadic family of eight from Kalaburagi, who had been residing in Mysuru for several weeks. They had set up temporary shelters and earned their livelihood by selling balloons, especially during the festive season, in popular spots like Doddakere Maidan, the Dasara Exhibition, Bannimantap, and Devaraj Urs Road.
On Wednesday, after a long day of work, the family retired for the night in their makeshift accommodation. Heavy rains had lashed the city, making for a late night. However, their peace was shattered in the early hours when they awoke to find the young girl missing. A frantic search immediately began, and a missing person complaint was promptly filed with the Nazarbad Police.
The intensified search efforts by the police soon led to a grim discovery: the girl’s lifeless body. Authorities strongly suspect the case involves both molestation and murder, deepening the tragedy.
The police have swiftly launched a comprehensive investigation. They are meticulously examining CCTV footage from surrounding areas in their determined efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. Reliable sources indicate that a potential suspect has already been identified. Senior police officials, including Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar, along with forensic experts and sniffer dog units, have thoroughly inspected the crime scene to gather crucial evidence.
