Tragically, a 15-year-old boy lost his life, and three other individuals sustained injuries in a fire that broke out in a chawl located in Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade neighborhood. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
Emergency services were alerted around 4:15 AM to the fire that ignited in Shivshakti Nagar, along Captain Prakash Pethe Marg. The blaze was contained within a single-story chawl, commonly known as row tenements.
The injured were promptly transported to St. George’s Hospital for immediate medical attention. Sadly, the young victim, identified as Yash Vitthal Khot, 15, was declared deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
Authorities reported that the fire was primarily concentrated in an area of approximately 10×10 feet on the first floor of the chawl. The source of the fire is believed to be related to electric wiring, installations, three electric vehicle batteries, and household items.
Firefighters quickly responded to the scene, and the fire was successfully extinguished by 4:35 AM, preventing further escalation.
