A serious public health crisis has emerged in Sara Mohanpur village, located in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, where a major diarrhoea outbreak has claimed the lives of two individuals, including a woman, and left more than 70 people ill. This alarming situation led officials to establish a special medical camp in the affected area on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Darbhanga Civil Surgeon Arun Kumar confirmed that the first symptoms were reported among children two days prior, but the illness has since spread rapidly, now affecting most of the village’s population.
“Patients whose conditions have significantly worsened have been admitted to the Sadar Hospital and Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH),” the health department official stated. He also confirmed the unfortunate deaths of Deep Lal Yadav last night and Laxmi Devi today.
Despite these tragic losses, authorities are hopeful that the situation will soon be brought under control. Kumar assured the public, stating, “An ample supply of antibiotics and disinfectants has been secured for the village camp. A dedicated team of doctors is on-site, and additional beds have been prepared in both hospitals to manage any further escalation of cases.”
