Tragedy unfolded late Thursday night in West Bengaluru’s R.R. Nagar when a 31-year-old man was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances within the washroom of a local resto-bar.
The individual has been identified as Megharaj, a 31-year-old manager at Jana Small Bank.
According to initial police reports, the incident took place around 11:30 PM at a resto-bar located in Ideal Homes Layout. Megharaj had arrived at the establishment with three friends. As their evening concluded, Megharaj excused himself to use the washroom, while his companions waited for him downstairs.
When Megharaj did not reappear after approximately ten minutes, his friends grew concerned and went upstairs to check on him. They found the washroom door locked from the inside. After receiving no response, staff members were alerted, and the door was forcefully opened, revealing Megharaj’s lifeless body, a police officer close to the investigation confirmed.
A review of the resto-bar’s CCTV footage by police did not reveal any suspicious activity or individuals near the washroom at the time Megharaj entered. “There were no signs of forced entry into the washroom, and the crime scene itself did not indicate foul play. Consequently, we have registered this as a case of unnatural death,” the officer stated, suggesting that a pre-existing health condition might have played a role. Authorities are currently working to ascertain if Megharaj had any known medical issues.
Forensic experts have gathered samples from the scene, and investigators are now awaiting the results of Megharaj’s postmortem examination and the full forensic report to further their inquiry. Megharaj leaves behind his wife and a six-month-old child, according to police.
