Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and S.S. Sandhu, will arrive in Patna for a two-day visit starting Saturday, October 4, 2025. Their mission is to meticulously assess the state’s readiness for the upcoming elections.
The current term of the 243-member Bihar Assembly is set to conclude on November 22. It’s anticipated that the state will hold its elections in multiple phases, commencing later this month and continuing into November.
This visit aligns with standard procedure, as the election authority typically conducts on-ground assessments before finalizing and announcing election dates. Officials confirmed on Friday, October 3, 2025, that the CEC and Election Commissioners will be present in Bihar on October 4 and 5.
During their visit, the Election Commission will hold important discussions with representatives from various political parties, along with senior police, administrative, and state election officials. Furthermore, a detailed briefing is currently being conducted for the general, police, and expenditure observers designated by the Election Commission for the Bihar polls.
The extensive Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list has been successfully completed. The updated electoral roll, officially released on September 30, now boasts an impressive 7.42 crore registered electors.
The Election Commission has firmly stated its commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list, while also guaranteeing that no ineligible individuals are mistakenly added.
