Thrissur district is fully prepared for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of its voter list, as confirmed by District Collector and District Election Officer Arjun Pandian. This significant undertaking aims to meticulously update and refine the electoral database across the region.
Currently, Thrissur boasts a substantial electorate of 2,650,163 voters. This total comprises 1,264,500 men, 1,385,628 women, and 35 transgender individuals. To manage this vast number, the district has established 2,338 dedicated polling booths.
A recent district-level meeting brought together representatives from various recognized political parties. Chaired by the District Collector, the session focused on outlining the schedule and intricate details of the SIR process, ensuring transparency and stakeholder engagement.
To facilitate the revision, a dedicated Booth Level Officer (BLO) has been assigned to each polling booth, with a BLO supervisor overseeing every ten booths to ensure smooth operations. Comprehensive training has already been provided to these officers and their supervisors. BLOs will personally deliver two printed enumeration forms to every household, each form clearly stating the officer’s name and contact information.
Individuals who are not yet on the voters’ list will receive a specific Form 6 along with a declaration form. All voters are required to complete one copy of the enumeration form and return it to their respective BLO. For added convenience, forms can also be submitted digitally through official online platforms or mobile applications. If a voter is temporarily absent, a close family member can sign and submit the form on their behalf. Notably, no additional documents are needed when submitting the enumeration form itself.
The Election Commission has set the period for distributing and collecting these forms from November 4 to December 4. Following this, the draft voters’ list, which will incorporate all received forms, is scheduled for publication on December 9. It’s important to note that each polling station is designed to accommodate a maximum of 1,200 voters.
After the draft list is made public, a window for submitting objections and claims will be open from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026. Once all claims and objections have been thoroughly reviewed and addressed, the definitive final voters’ list will be officially released on February 7, 2026.
Should there be any grievances regarding the Electoral Registration Officer’s decisions, appeals can be filed directly with the District Collector. To further assist the public and political parties throughout this process, a dedicated help desk has been set up at the district level. Enumeration forms have already been printed and are ready for distribution. For any queries, the help desk can be reached at 0487-2631036.
District Collector Arjun Pandian assured the public that every eligible individual would be included in the list, and all existing discrepancies would be resolved to produce an accurate and error-free voter roll. He emphasized that “all arrangements have been made to make the process simple and trouble-free for voters,” and urged the full cooperation of all political parties and the general public.
Adding to the oversight, Deputy Election Commissioner Sanjay Kumar also conducted a review meeting with the District Election Officer and Electoral Registration Officers at the Collectorate, assessing the ongoing progress of the Special Intensive Revision.
