This year, Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) has truly become the beating heart of Dasara celebrations in Mandya, thanks to the immense enthusiasm generated by its mesmerizing Cauvery Aarti and exhilarating water adventure sports.
Even as the formal Srirangapatna Dasara festivities wrapped up on Sunday, the festive spirit lives on, fueled by the unique charm of the Aarti at KRS and a diverse range of adventure activities scheduled to run until October 2nd.
Local authorities are touting these events as a major boost for the tourism sector, infusing new energy into the region. The grand Cauvery Aarti, inspired by the renowned Ganga Aarti, was complemented by a series of vibrant cultural performances.
Swami Muktidananda of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru, graced the Cauvery Aarti on Sunday, emphasizing India’s age-old tradition of revering rivers and nature. He highlighted Cauvery’s crucial role as the lifeblood for millions in South Karnataka and downstream regions, suggesting the Aarti become a permanent fixture of future Dasara celebrations.
District Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy explained that this year’s Cauvery Aarti was held symbolically due to some legal challenges. Nevertheless, Sunday marked the third day of the Aarti, drawing an enormous crowd. The spiritual spectacle was further enhanced by engaging cultural performances and a dazzling laser show, adding extra sparkle to the festive atmosphere.
In parallel with the divine Aarti, Krishnaraja Sagar also hosted an array of exciting water sports, including thrilling rafting experiences, which garnered an overwhelming response from tourists. These adventure activities have clearly energized the youth, while the more serene water sports have provided families with truly unique and unforgettable memories.
Officials proudly declared that the water sports at KRS have been met with exceptional enthusiasm from visitors. They believe that by expertly combining adventure, entertainment, and rich cultural experiences, Krishnaraja Sagar is poised to write an exciting new chapter in regional tourism. With almost 80 diverse games and activities introduced, there’s truly something for everyone, regardless of age.
