The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has issued an important update for residents across the Greater Bengaluru Area (GBA): your upcoming electricity bills will be based on your average consumption from the last three months. This temporary change is due to a crucial software upgrade currently underway.
According to a recent BESCOM release, the company’s IT department is diligently working to enhance its billing system, aiming for improved efficiency and smoother operations. Consequently, between October 1 and 15, physical meter readings will be suspended in the GBA. Instead, your bill will reflect an average of your power usage from the three previous billing cycles.
BESCOM wants to reassure all consumers that this interim billing method will not impact any benefits you receive, particularly those under the State government’s popular Gruha Jyothi scheme, which offers up to 200 units of free power to eligible households.
Making payments remains straightforward. You can continue to pay your bills conveniently through the BESCOM Mitra mobile application, various UPI platforms, or by visiting your local sub-division offices as usual.
Officials confirm that regular meter reading services will resume promptly after October 15, once the comprehensive system upgrade has been successfully completed.
