Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, affirmed the state government’s dedication to fostering sustainable economic growth. Addressing leaders of the Confederation of Indian Industry Southern Region in Hyderabad on Friday, he emphasized that this growth would be driven by robust good governance, continuous innovation, and an unwavering commitment to inclusive development.
During his address to the CII-SR council meeting, the Minister highlighted Telangana’s strategic development roadmap, designed to position the state as a significant force in India’s aspiration to become a $15 trillion economy. Key pillars of this progress include advanced technological development, the ambitious Regional Ring Road project, and the innovative Net Zero Bharat Future City. This proposed 20,000-acre city is envisioned as a hub for eco-friendly industries, poised to propel the state’s future economic expansion.
He further noted that the National Investment Manufacturing Zone is set to become a pivotal manufacturing cluster. He underscored that various ongoing projects are crucial for realizing the state government’s ambitious targets: transforming Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy by 2035 and an impressive $3 trillion economy by 2047. The Minister also lauded the CII for its instrumental role in connecting ambitious goals with tangible achievements. In response to a suggestion from the industry body, he voiced support for establishing a consultative committee dedicated to promptly addressing industry-related concerns.
Minister Sridhar Babu’s office additionally emphasized the critical importance of regional collaboration, urging southern states to collectively forge a competitive, innovation-driven manufacturing ecosystem. He passionately called for a ‘Make-in-South, Scale-for-the-World’ economic model, one that can rival global leaders. He extended an invitation to CII members and various companies, presenting Telangana as an ideal springboard for their international investments. Reassuring the industry, he committed that the state government would ensure a stable and supportive policy landscape, and revealed plans to explore a dedicated industry-government coordination mechanism to fortify institutional ties, drawing inspiration from successful implementations in other states.
Highlighting the state’s advantageous geographical position, the Minister pointed out significant growth prospects. He projected that the region situated between the current Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the upcoming Regional Ring Road (RRR) is destined to evolve into a major industrial hub, strategically positioned to capitalize on the global ‘China + 1’ manufacturing shift.
During the event, the Minister officially launched a comprehensive handbook on Telangana and a report titled ‘Telangana — Embracing Energy Transition’. Notable CII leaders in attendance included Thomas John Muthoot, Southern Region Chairman; Ravichandran Purushothaman, Deputy Chairman; and Sivaprasad Reddy Rachamallu, Telangana Chairman of CII.
