Telangana’s T-Fiber project, designed to deliver high-speed internet to every home, institution, and business in select rural areas, earned significant accolades at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 in New Delhi on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, specifically highlighted T-Fiber as an exemplary initiative for other states to emulate. He extended his congratulations to Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, recognizing the state’s innovative approach to establishing rural broadband connectivity, as stated in a press release from the Minister’s office.
These pioneering T-Fiber pilot villages have garnered national recognition for their outstanding success in promoting digital inclusion. The Union Minister commended Telangana for effectively demonstrating how crucial last-mile fiber connectivity can profoundly transform rural communities. He also encouraged Telangana to offer its expertise and support to other states interested in replicating the T-Fiber model, and even suggested establishing additional pilot villages across the country.
During the IT Ministers’ round table conference, presided over by Minister Scindia and co-chaired by Union Minister of State for Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, the Telangana Minister reiterated his state’s commitment. He pledged to collaborate with the Central government to expedite the implementation of BharatNet, overcome challenges related to Right of Way (RoW), and bolster cybersecurity frameworks to safeguard both national and state digital assets.
Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized, “Digital equity forms the bedrock of inclusive growth. Telangana is steadfast in its dedication to bridging the urban-rural digital divide and constructing a robust digital infrastructure for the future.” Accompanied by T-Fiber Managing Director Venu Prasad Panneeru, he showcased the state’s impressive success stories and data-driven results from the pilot projects implemented in these villages.
Telangana effectively demonstrated how its extensive fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network empowers citizens by providing access to essential services such as e-governance, educational resources, healthcare facilities, and opportunities for digital entrepreneurship. This state model was acknowledged as a shining example of effective digital governance, perfectly aligned with the broader objectives of Digital India and BharatNet Phase III. The IMC 2025, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stands as India’s foremost platform for digital technology and telecom innovation, fostering a vital forum for policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts, according to Minister Sridhar Babu’s office.
