Telangana is set to expand its innovation footprint beyond Hyderabad, with plans to establish cutting-edge incubation centers in Warangal and Nalgonda. These new facilities, inspired by the renowned T-Hub model, aim to ignite local innovation and foster a strong entrepreneurial spirit in these key districts, announced IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Saturday.
Minister Sridhar Babu shared these exciting developments during the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kakatiya University Pharma Alumni Association held at Nampally Exhibition Grounds. He emphasized that these centers are crucial for nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of new ideas and businesses across Telangana.
To bring this vision to life, the government will soon finalize Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Kakatiya University and Mahatma Gandhi University. This strategic move is integral to the state’s ambitious goal: transforming Telangana into a premier innovation hub and a ‘pharmacy of purpose,’ where scientific advancements are deeply integrated with humanitarian values to create impactful, socially beneficial solutions.
Remarkable ₹54,000 Crore Investment Surge
Highlighting the synergy between empathy and progress, Mr. Sridhar Babu stated, “When science is infused with empathy, every innovation becomes a force for social good.” He further elaborated on Telangana’s commitment to building a comprehensive 360-degree life sciences ecosystem. This system is designed to seamlessly connect groundbreaking research with market opportunities and align policy decisions with patient needs.
In a testament to its forward-thinking policies, Telangana has successfully attracted an astounding ₹54,000 crore in new investments within the Life Sciences sector over the past 18 months. This impressive figure includes significant commitments from global pharmaceutical giants like Eli Lilly, which is establishing a substantial presence in the state. This rapid growth clearly demonstrates strong investor confidence in Telangana’s progressive approach and its capacity to generate extensive new employment opportunities for its youth.
Encouraging the next generation of innovators, the Minister offered a powerful perspective: “History remembers not the number of patents one holds, but the number of lives touched by one’s innovation.”
Further inspiring the audience, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy shared the remarkable journey of Pailla Malla Reddy. Hailing from Sankishala village in Nalgonda district, Mr. Reddy rose to become a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, currently chairing Bactolac Pharmaceuticals in New York, a company with an estimated market worth of ₹10,000 crore. Minister Reddy urged: “Young pharma students should draw inspiration from his journey.”
Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy was also among the distinguished attendees at the event.
