The Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation, in an exciting collaboration with Telangana Tourism, is embarking on a significant project: a feature film titled Chand Tara. This cinematic endeavor will bring to life the captivating story of Taramati, the renowned 17th-century singer and dancer from the illustrious Qutb Shahi era. According to Mohammed Ali Baig of the foundation, the film aims not only to entertain but also to showcase Hyderabad and the broader Telangana region as places rich in historical grandeur and boundless cultural possibilities.
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma lauded the Theatre Foundation’s consistent dedication, stating, “For two decades, the Theatre Foundation has shone as a beacon of artistic excellence, nurturing Hyderabad’s vibrant cultural soul through the enchanting world of theatre.” He added that the unveiling of Chand Tara beautifully extends this legacy, promising to honor and preserve the region’s shared heritage.
The evening’s festivities concluded with a heartwarming musical homage to the city. A soul-stirring Qawwali performance, “Yeh Hyderabad Hai Doston,” penned by the revered late poet Ashraf Mehli, masterfully composed by Kartik Raja, and eloquently rendered by Aadir Hussain Khan, captivated the audience. This was followed by another poignant piece, “Piya Baaj Piyala,” originally written by the 17th-century poet-king Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, bringing the cultural tribute to a graceful and memorable close.
