Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao affirmed his party’s commitment to relentlessly oppose any anti-people policies enacted by the state government. He stated that the BRS would draw inspiration from the sacrifices made by those who fought for the integration of Hyderabad State into the Indian Union.

Mr. Rama Rao joined other senior party leaders in celebrating ‘National Integration Day’ at Telangana Bhavan. After unfurling the national flag, he addressed the gathering, reflecting on the profound significance of the day when the people of Telangana transitioned from a monarchy to a democratic system. He acknowledged the ongoing debate over whether to term it ‘liberation’ or a ‘merger,’ but stressed the immense human cost: “Thousands of people fought against the monarchy and sacrificed their lives. On behalf of our party, we humbly bow our heads and pay tribute to all these valiant fighters and martyrs.”

Highlighting Telangana’s enduring legacy, Mr. Rama Rao emphasized that the region is a land steeped in sacrifices and struggles. He cited historical movements, from the armed peasant struggle and the 1969 Telangana movement to the recent democratic movement led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He also paid homage to legendary figures like Chakali Ailamma, Sheikh Bandagi, and Ravi Narayana Reddy, recognizing them as great fighters of Telangana. He reiterated the party’s resolve to continue its fight under KCR’s leadership, aiming to restore a welfare and development-centric governance in Telangana.

Concurrently, Telangana Jagruthi observed the day as ‘Telangana Merger Day.’ President Kalvakuntla Kavitha unfurled the national flag at their office in Banjara Hills, honoring the fighters of the Telangana armed peasant struggle.

Ms. Kavitha strongly criticized the BJP’s interpretation of September 17 as ‘Liberation Day,’ asserting that the correct historical designation is ‘Telangana Merger Day.’ She accused the BJP of orchestrating programs that undermine the federal spirit, distorting Telangana’s history, and intentionally inciting religious hatred. She urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to formally write to the Central government, demanding an end to such divisive programs within the state.
