The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has uncovered multiple instances of individuals posing as doctors and illegally practicing modern medicine in various centers across Nalgonda district’s Haliya and Nidmanoor mandals.
These crucial inspections were conducted under the guidance of TGMC Registrar Dr. D. Lalayya Kumar and Chairman Dr. K. Mahesh Kumar, with Vice Chairman Dr. Srinivas Gundagani and Dr. Srikanth Varma directly overseeing the on-ground operations.
In Haliya, officials were alarmed to find several unregistered individuals providing medical treatment. Specifically, Syed Babu was caught treating children at Star Clinic, while Bahadur operated the Bahadur First Aid Centre. At Sri Dasu First Aid Centre, a lab technician named Dasu and a nurse, Sridevi, were illegally practicing medicine without proper qualifications. Another case involved Panduranga Nayak, who was running the Venkat Padma Clinic without proper authorization.
The investigation continued in Nidmanoor mandal, where Yelijala Kashaiah was discovered managing the Srilakshmi First Aid Centre. At Sandhya Diagnostic Centre, Swathi, a GNM nurse, was found unlawfully acting as a doctor, and Balakrishna was operating the Shiva First Aid Centre. A disturbing common thread in all these cases was the reckless administration of antibiotics, steroids, and painkiller injections, a severe breach of both the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act.
The TGMC has confirmed that legal proceedings are being initiated against all identified violators. These individuals face potential penalties of up to one year in prison and fines reaching ₹5 lakh, as determined by the courts.
In a public appeal, Dr. G. Srinivas of the TGMC urged citizens to actively participate in safeguarding public health by reporting any suspected illegal medical practices to the Council’s dedicated WhatsApp number: 9154382727.
