Anil Kumar Eravathri, a former MLA and current Chairman of the Telangana Mineral Development Corporation (TGMDC), asserted that BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao faces significant backlash from Gulf migrants due to his recent ‘irresponsible comments’ concerning the state government’s efforts for their welfare.
Eravathri’s statement came in response to Mr. Rao’s claims that both the Central and State governments have been ineffective in providing relief to ‘Gulf victims.’ Rao had specifically highlighted that many workers, predominantly from districts like Nirmal, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Jagtial, and Siddipet, were left stranded abroad without adequate governmental support.
During a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, flanked by other Congress leaders, Mr. Anil aggressively countered, stating that under the decade-long BRS administration, approximately 2,000 Telangana workers who tragically passed away in Gulf nations received no ex-gratia payments. He went further, branding former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao a ‘human monster’ in the eyes of Gulf workers, and labeled K.T. Rama Rao, Kavitha, and Harish as ‘little monsters,’ intensifying the political rhetoric.
Adding to the condemnation, BM Vinod Kumar, Chairman of Telangana’s NRI Advisory Committee, publicly questioned why Mr. Harish Rao, despite his previous role as Finance Minister, is now asserting that the Congress government has allocated no funds for Gulf worker welfare. Fellow committee members Chennamaneni Srinivasa Rao, Nangi Devender Reddy, and Vice Chairman Manda Bheem Reddy jointly demanded a public apology from Mr. Harish Rao to the affected Gulf workers.
