In a significant address, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy recently called upon the state’s newly appointed licensed land surveyors to prioritize and safeguard the rights of landowners. Speaking at a ceremony in Hyderabad where appointment letters were distributed, the Chief Minister underscored the immense responsibility entrusted to these officials, warning that any inaccuracies in their work could have severe repercussions for the government.
Highlighting a stark contrast with the previous administration, CM Reddy criticized the former government for its failure to issue job notifications, asserting that the current Congress government is actively fulfilling its promise to fill vacant positions. He specifically lambasted the ‘draconian’ Dharani Act and its associated portal, which he claimed led to a select few wielding undue power over land matters, ultimately contributing to the previous BRS government’s electoral defeat.
According to the Chief Minister, his administration moved swiftly to scrap the contentious Dharani system shortly after assuming power, a move he says was crucial in preventing farmers from losing their land ownership rights. This action, he stated, directly responded to the public’s overwhelming mandate against the BRS government in the recent elections.
Looking ahead, CM Reddy urged all officials and employees, including the newly inducted surveyors, to collaboratively work towards the ambitious goal of transforming Telangana into a US $3 trillion economy by 2047. He stressed that surveyors are vital partners in the state’s development, and their unwavering support for farmers, who form the bedrock of the nation, is paramount.
Adding to the Chief Minister’s remarks, Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy confirmed the appointment of 3,456 surveyors. He stated that this large-scale recruitment aims to fortify the revenue system at the grassroots level, which he claimed had been severely undermined and exploited under the BRS regime for the benefit of its leaders. Minister Reddy implored the new recruits to perform their duties with utmost sincerity, recognizing that the government’s public image hinges on their integrity and accuracy.
