Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy convened a crucial video conference on Thursday morning with top officials and district Collectors from areas devastated by Cyclone Montha. Demonstrating proactive leadership, the Chief Minister had already instructed officials to secure maize, cotton, and various grains before the cyclone made landfall, aiming to prevent any financial hardship for farmers.
During the impactful meeting, Chief Minister Reddy issued comprehensive directives focusing on several critical areas. These included the expedited procurement of food grains, immediate repairs to damaged road networks, and proactive measures to warn local communities about rising water levels in irrigation projects and other water bodies. This multi-faceted approach aimed to address both immediate relief and long-term recovery.
Key members of the government were in attendance, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. Notable participants included Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, among other senior officials.
The severity of Cyclone Montha’s impact was evident in the rainfall data. On Wednesday, several districts experienced extremely heavy rainfall, exceeding 20.44 cm. Areas like Hanumakonda, Warangal, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Mahabubabad, and Jangaon were particularly affected, according to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society, recorded from Wednesday morning until 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
