Tejashwi Yadav Warns: Bihar a ‘Time Bomb’ of Corruption and Joblessness Under Nitish Kumar

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, delivered a strong statement on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He asserted that the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government lacks sufficient funds to deliver on its pre-election pledges for the upcoming Assembly polls.

Addressing reporters, Mr. Yadav highlighted a drastic discrepancy in the State’s finances. He noted that while the initial budget for the financial year 2025-2026 stood at ₹3.95 lakh crore, the government’s announced commitments have inflated this figure to an alarming ₹7.8 lakh crore.

Flanked by Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Yadav and party State president Manganilal Mandal, the Leader of the Opposition directly challenged Chief Minister Kumar. He questioned how the government plans to secure the vast additional funds required to make good on its numerous promises.

Mr. Yadav further alleged that the announcements recently made by the Kumar government were merely plagiarized versions of assurances he had previously offered. He confidently stated that the Opposition has a strategic “backup plan” ready to outmaneuver the ruling NDA once the election dates are officially declared.

The RJD leader also pointed out that Chief Minister Kumar is reportedly disbursing ₹65 crore daily from Bihar’s treasury in the form of loans. He demanded a personal explanation from Mr. Kumar, questioning the rationale behind such extensive announcements that are clearly adding a significant financial burden on the citizens of Bihar.

“The people of Bihar have a right to understand that this ‘copycat’ government is simply mimicking Tejashwi’s vision without offering any concrete data or a clear implementation strategy,” Mr. Yadav emphasized.

“The Prime Minister unveiled a ₹1.15 lakh crore plan between May and September 2025, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared ₹50,000 crore during his ‘Pragati Yatra’ in December 2024. However, the Chief Minister’s total announced expenditure last month alone surged to an astounding ₹7.8 lakh crore. What is his overarching vision? How does Nitish Kumar intend to manage such an exorbitant budget? The Chief Minister owes the public a definitive answer to this critical question.”

He pressed the Bihar Chief Minister to articulate a clear strategy for boosting state revenue, essential for fulfilling the extensive promises made leading up to the Assembly elections.

Questioning the ₹10,000 Transfer Scheme

Critiquing the ‘Mukhayamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojna’, which involves transferring ₹10,000 to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women, Mr. Tejashwi pointed out the stark reality: after two decades in power, the NDA government’s annual contribution per woman under this scheme amounts to a mere ₹500.

“Breaking down the figures further,” Mr. Yadav explained, “this translates to approximately ₹41.66 per month, or a paltry ₹1.38 per day. This reveals that after 20 years of governance, this ‘double-engine’ administration has effectively robbed the children of Bihar of both their present and future. The people of Bihar will not be swayed by this transparent ₹1.38 ‘conspiracy’.”

He went on to claim that the State government is allegedly accepting bribes directly from the Prime Minister.

“Bihar’s treasury is being systematically drained, with ₹700 crore annually allocated to private companies for cleaning and sweeping government buildings in Patna,” Mr. Yadav stated. “Organized corruption is reaching unprecedented levels, and Nitish Kumar, in this scenario, has become the ‘Dhritarashtra’ of corruption, seemingly blind to the widespread wrongdoing.”

He vowed that a comprehensive list of corrupt individuals within Bihar is currently being compiled and will soon be publicly released, ensuring that the full extent of the issue is exposed to the public.

“Both Modi and Nitish have seemingly compromised their stance on corruption, a move that severely undermines the state’s best interests. Bihar, as a result, is currently sitting on a volatile ‘time bomb’ of entrenched corruption and rampant unemployment,” Mr. Yadav warned.

The RJD leader recalled that in 2020, the Bihar Chief Minister had launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana’, an initiative designed to foster entrepreneurship and self-employment among women. Mr. Yadav demanded an update on the fate and effectiveness of this particular scheme.

This scheme was intended to offer financial assistance of up to ₹10,00,000, structured as a 50% non-refundable grant and a 50% interest-free loan.

Highlighting a history of alleged scams during Mr. Kumar’s leadership, Mr. Yadav presented journalists with an old video detailing 32 specific financial irregularities that had previously been cited by the Prime Minister himself in a speech.
