A shocking domestic incident in Alappuzha left a schoolteacher severely wounded after her 17-year-old daughter allegedly stabbed her. The violent confrontation, which occurred on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m., reportedly stemmed from an ongoing dispute over the daughter’s excessive mobile phone usage. Local police in Alappuzha South have since registered a case against the Plus One student.
Sources indicate that mother and daughter frequently argued about smartphone use. The day before the attack, the mother had reportedly hidden the phone charger, triggering another argument. On the fateful Wednesday morning, the situation escalated dramatically when the mother asked her daughter to clean up pet urine from the floor. This request, according to police, ignited a furious response, leading the teenager to grab a kitchen knife and stab her mother in the neck.
Grappling with a deep neck wound and bleeding profusely, the injured mother desperately sought help from a neighbor before collapsing unconscious on their veranda. A quick-thinking young man at the scene immediately applied pressure to her neck with a cloth to control the severe bleeding. Disturbingly, her hair and face also showed signs of minor burns.
Emergency services were promptly alerted, and Alappuzha South police swiftly arrived. However, due to the critical nature of her injuries, transporting her in a police vehicle was deemed unsafe. An ambulance soon took over, rushing her to Government Medical College Hospital, Alappuzha, where she underwent urgent surgery. She is currently receiving intensive care.
The teenage daughter has since been moved to the Sakhi shelter home, a government-operated facility. Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities anticipate gaining a clearer understanding of the full incident once the injured mother’s condition stabilizes and she is able to provide her statement.
