Rajam MLA Kondru Murali Mohan, a prominent leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), asserted on Thursday that the previous administration led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy inflicted substantial injustice upon Dalit families. He highlighted the alleged suspension of approximately 27 welfare schemes and crucial funding designated for the A.P. Scheduled Caste Corporation. This corporation, he noted, was vital for providing financial aid to disadvantaged communities, supporting their livelihoods through self-employment initiatives.
Flanked by Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju, Mr. Murali Mohan paid homage by garlanding a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Balaji Junction in Vizianagaram before addressing a press conference.
During his address, he strongly accused leaders and activists of the YSRCP of being responsible for the distressing incident involving the burning of a Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue in Vedurukuppam village, Chittoor district. Furthermore, he explicitly charged former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with deliberately undermining livelihood opportunities for Scheduled Caste (SC) youth by freezing essential schemes and financial allocations.
Mr. Murali Mohan also claimed that the YSRCP government systematically targeted various SC professionals, including leaders, government officials, and doctors. He underscored the tragic case of Dr. Sudhakar from Narsipatnam, who allegedly endured severe harassment for publicly criticizing the inadequate infrastructure in government hospitals during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Dr. Sudhakar succumbed to the humiliation he faced,’ stated Mr. Murali Mohan, adding, ‘Before Mr. Jagan visits Narasipatnam to offer hollow condolences about the development of the government medical college under a public-private partnership, he should first offer a sincere apology to Dr. Sudhakar’s family.’
It is worth noting that Mr. Murali Mohan himself served as the Minister for Medical and Health during Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s tenure in the erstwhile United Andhra Pradesh. Several other TDP dignitaries, including Rongali Potanna and Mylapilli Pydiraju, were also present at the event.
