The vibrant city of Chennai is preparing to host a significant International Vallalar conference this November or December, an event expected to draw over 10,000 Sanmarga devotees, including 2,000 women. This exciting announcement came from Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, P.K. Sekar Babu.
Minister Sekar Babu shared these details following his participation in the 203rd birth anniversary celebrations of the revered saint Arutpragasa Vallalar Ramalinga Adigalar, held recently in Vadalur, Cuddalore district.
He highlighted that the Chief Minister has generously earmarked ₹99.99 crore for the creation of the Vallalar International Centre in Vadalur. Despite previous legal challenges, construction is now actively progressing in the designated “B” site area, with plans to open its doors to devotees by December. The court’s approval for this phase of construction was based on a detailed report provided by the government.
Regarding the “A” site, development is currently paused, awaiting further court directives. The government has already submitted a report concerning encroachments on this site, as requested by the court. Minister Sekar Babu affirmed the administration’s commitment, stating that justice would prevail and the establishment of the Vallalar International Centre would proceed with transparency and fairness.
He also noted that since the DMK government assumed office in 2021, Vallalar’s birth anniversary has been officially celebrated as a ‘Day of Benevolence,’ underscoring the state’s respect for the saint’s teachings.
The celebrations also saw the presence of Ministers M.R.K. Panneerselvam and C.V. Ganesan, along with Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, signifying the importance of the occasion.
