Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi recently offered profound praise for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the organization celebrated its 100th year. This significant milestone was acknowledged on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
In a statement shared via Raj Bhavan Tamil Nadu’s X (formerly Twitter) account, Governor Ravi highlighted the RSS’s “uninterrupted journey of nation-building” over the past century, primarily achieved through its focus on “character building of individual citizens.” He emphasized the substantial “yeoman service” rendered by the RSS to both the populace and the nation throughout these years.
Governor Ravi specifically pointed out the RSS’s crucial role as a “first responder” during times of national calamity. He noted that whenever any part of the country has faced natural disasters such as earthquakes, devastating floods, cyclones, landslides, or widespread epidemics, RSS volunteers (Swayamsevaks) have consistently been among the initial groups to provide rescue and relief to those affected.
Furthermore, the Governor underscored the immense dedication of thousands of Swayamsevaks who have devoted their entire lives to serving communities. These volunteers have often worked in remote, inaccessible regions, including areas along international borders, the far-flung corners of the Northeast, and tribal villages nestled within dense forests and hills – places where governmental assistance struggled to reach for decades post-Independence. He asserted that the RSS’s contributions to cultivating a “national awakening” among citizens are unparalleled.
Concluding his commendation, Mr. Ravi affirmed that the RSS has consistently championed the principles of “Swadeshi” (self-reliance) and “social justice” throughout its extensive history.
