With significant rainfall forecast by the India Meteorological Department, the Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has initiated robust preparatory measures. A team of 12 senior IAS officers has been strategically deployed to districts expected to be most affected by the heavy rains. These officers will establish camps in their assigned regions to meticulously monitor and ensure all necessary preventive actions are swiftly implemented.
The deployed monitoring officers and their respective districts are as follows: K.P. Karthikeyan for Tiruvallur, K.S. Kandasamy for Kancheepuram, Kranti Kumar Pati for Chengalpattu, S.A. Raman for Villupuram, D. Mohan for Cuddalore, Kavitha Ramu for Mayiladuthurai, and T. Anand for Tiruvarur. Additionally, A. Annadurai will oversee Nagapattinam, H. Krishnanunni for Thanjavur, P. Sri Venkata Priya for Kallakurichi, M. Vijayalakshmi for Ariyalur, and M. Lakshmi for Perambalur.
In Chennai, IAS officers already designated for each of the 15 zones within the Greater Chennai Corporation have received directives to immediately ensure all preparatory measures are in place, according to an official government release. This comprehensive deployment aims to enhance the state’s readiness and minimize the impact of the impending heavy rains.
