Relux Electric, a prominent electric vehicle charging infrastructure provider, has officially partnered with the state-owned Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) to roll out 500 new EV charging stations across Tamil Nadu. This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing electric mobility in the region.
As part of this ambitious project, Relux Electric and TNGECL will undertake a comprehensive feasibility study. Their goal is to pinpoint optimal, government-owned land parcels throughout Tamil Nadu that are best suited for establishing these crucial charging stations.
Currently, Tamil Nadu’s EV landscape includes approximately 1,300 charging stations. To further empower electric vehicle users, the TNGECL is actively developing a digital map that will allow drivers to effortlessly locate nearby charging points. Additionally, plans are in motion to create dedicated EV hubs, offering a range of public-friendly facilities to ensure a seamless charging experience.
It’s worth noting that electricity consumption by public EV charging stations in Tamil Nadu saw a 20% increase in the financial year 2024-2025, underscoring the growing demand for electric vehicle infrastructure.
TNGECL is deeply committed to expanding Tamil Nadu’s EV infrastructure, forging strategic collaborations with various municipal bodies, bus depots, and other accessible public locations. The overarching aim of this initiative is to establish a widespread and easily accessible network of EV charging stations. This will not only make electric vehicle ownership more convenient for the public but also vigorously support the state’s vision for cleaner, more sustainable transportation solutions.
Mr. Karthikeyan S., the Managing Director of Relux Electric Private Limited, highlighted the timely nature of this partnership. He stated, “This collaboration between the State and Relux arrives at a crucial moment to accelerate EV adoption throughout Tamil Nadu. It represents a significant stride towards establishing Tamil Nadu as a prominent electric mobility hub and will create further opportunities to strengthen our charging infrastructure in locations that are truly customer-friendly.”
