In a truly heartwarming gesture, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav announced his decision to donate his entire match fee from the recently concluded Asia Cup to two noble causes: the valiant Indian Armed Forces and the innocent victims of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack. This announcement came shortly after India clinched a thrilling five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the tournament’s final match on Sunday night, September 28, 2025.
Expressing his solidarity, the 35-year-old cricketer shared his sentiments, stating, “I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind.”
Adding to the team’s success, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced a significant ₹21 crore prize money for the Asia Cup-winning Indian squad and its dedicated support staff.
Amidst the celebrations, Suryakumar Yadav also highlighted an unusual incident, expressing his astonishment at the winning team not being presented with the championship trophy. “I have never witnessed a situation like this before, where the victorious team doesn’t receive the trophy,” he remarked, further adding, “Ultimately, when the game is over, it’s the champions who are remembered, not a photograph with a trophy. For me, my players and the support staff are the true trophies.”
