The Sri Sathya Sai district police force has taken a significant step forward in ensuring the safety of women and children with the launch of a new, district-wide initiative. This vital program is designed to actively monitor individuals who have committed crimes against women and minors, offering them crucial counseling while making it clear that repeat violations will be met with severe consequences.
During a recent media briefing, following an initial counseling session for identified offenders, Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar emphasized the importance of this proactive approach. He issued clear directives to police personnel across all sub-divisions to maintain a vigilant watch on known rowdy-sheeters and those previously booked for harassment, assault, and sexual offenses. SP Kumar stressed that these individuals would be required to attend weekly counseling sessions at their local police stations. The primary goal of these sessions is to foster significant behavioral changes.
On the program’s inaugural day, counseling efforts were successfully rolled out across all sub-divisions and police circles. Offenders received explicit warnings against engaging in activities such as stalking female students, harassing women in public spaces, or any form of inappropriate behavior. “Any act of sexual harassment, assault, or violence against women and children will lead to decisive and stern legal action,” affirmed Mr. Satish Kumar.
The SP further detailed that constant manual and digital surveillance would be maintained at all educational institutions and public areas. He reiterated that while counseling serves as a valuable tool for reform, law enforcement will uphold a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to crimes against women. Police officials have been specifically instructed to handle all cases involving sexual assault, kidnapping, and violence with the utmost gravity, significantly intensifying vigilance throughout the district.
