The Delhi Police have arrested a self-styled godman, Baba Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who allegedly used fake identity cards to pose as a high-ranking international diplomat. Authorities revealed that two counterfeit visiting cards were recovered from the 62-year-old, one claiming he was a “Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations,” and another stating he was a “Special Envoy of India” and a member of the BRICS Joint Commission. Police confirmed these IDs were entirely fabricated to falsely project global influence and diplomatic status.
Saraswati faces serious accusations, including financial irregularities, fraud, and is currently under investigation for the alleged sexual harassment of 17 women students at a private institute in South Delhi. He was apprehended in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, after fleeing Delhi when an FIR was registered against him on August 4.
Officials stated that Saraswati, who previously chaired a management institute in Southwest Delhi, allegedly coerced female students into visiting his quarters late at night and sent them inappropriate messages. He was also found to have operated multiple bank accounts under different names, withdrawing over ₹50 lakh after the FIR was filed. Earlier, police had frozen ₹8 crore found in his various bank accounts and fixed deposits.
