The South Western Railway (SWR) has kicked off its highly anticipated Special Campaign 5.0, a month-long initiative dedicated to ‘Institutionalising Swachhata and Minimising Pendency in Government Offices.’ This important campaign, which began on Gandhi Jayanti, is set to run until October 31, promising a significant uplift in operational standards.
At its core, Special Campaign 5.0 aims for nothing less than complete cleanliness across all SWR government offices, extending to its field units and crucial public service points. A major highlight this year is the commitment to responsible e-waste management, ensuring that old computers, printers, and other discarded materials are disposed of scientifically, not only for environmental protection but also to generate revenue from scrap. You’ll see heightened cleanliness drives transforming stations, offices, and all areas where the public interacts with SWR services.
Tackling Delays Head-On
Beyond cleanliness, a crucial goal of this special drive is to dramatically cut down on bureaucratic delays. This means fast-tracking responses to inquiries from Members of Parliament, State governments, inter-ministerial discussions, Prime Minister’s Office matters, and long-standing Parliamentary Assurances. Furthermore, a significant effort is being made to quickly resolve public complaints and appeals submitted through platforms like CPGRAMS.
The initiative also places a strong emphasis on streamlining record-keeping and optimizing office spaces. This includes a thorough review and systematic culling of old files, proper closure of digital documents, and general office beautification efforts, all in strict adherence to established guidelines like CSMOP, GFR, and the Public Records Act of 1993. SWR has underscored the utmost importance of this campaign, with progress being rigorously tracked at the highest levels of government and reported through the DARPG monitoring portal.
