The Vijayawada Utsav has officially commenced with a spectacular new addition: thrilling helicopter joyrides! Minister of Sports and Transport, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, launched this exciting venture, stating it would significantly spotlight Amaravati as a prime tourist destination.
The inaugural ride, which took place at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium, saw Minister Reddy accompanied by MP Kesineni Sivanath and Sports Authority of A.P. Chairman A. Ravi Naidu. The Minister encouraged devotees attending the Dasara celebrations to take advantage of this unique opportunity to marvel at Vijayawada’s beauty from the sky after visiting the revered Kanaka Durga Temple.
He emphasized that these rides provide an unparalleled perspective of the majestic Krishna River, the iconic Indrakeeladri Hill, and the vibrant cityscape. This innovative initiative is poised to boost both public entertainment and regional tourism.
Operating daily from September 22 to October 2, a dedicated helicopter will be available, accommodating six passengers per trip, in addition to the pilot. With up to 45 trips possible each day, depending on weather conditions and demand, there are ample opportunities for visitors to partake.
Each six-to-seven-minute journey will showcase panoramic vistas including the Prakasam Barrage, Krishna River, Bhavani Island, the Durga Temple Hill area, and a stunning aerial overview of Vijayawada. Tickets are priced at ₹5,000 per person and can be purchased directly at the IGMC stadium for an unforgettable experience.
